Eat Antioxidant-Rich Fruits and Vegetables
“It’s great to slather your skin with free radical–fighting creams, but you also have to fight them from within,” says Jeanine Downie, M.D., a Shape editorial advisory board member and a dermatologist in Montclair, New Jersey. A study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition shows that eating foods with antioxidants like vitamins C and E, grape seed extract, and carotenoids help skin maintain its firmness as you age. Downie recommends eating at least two to three servings of fruits and vegetables daily (blueberries and pomegranates are particularly high in antioxidants).
